Job summary

Our dedicated Dermatology department at the Royal United Hospital (RUH) in Bathare recruiting for an enthusiastic and passionate Consultant to join their experienced team.

This 10 PA post in Dermatology will be based at the RUH in the UNESCO World Heritage city of Bath. Bath is an historic city known for its elegant Georgian architecture, green spaces and vibrant cultural scene.It also boasts a variety of renowned schools, includingprimary, secondary, and higher education institutions.Bath Spa University and the University of Bath are prominent universities in the area.

As an experienced and ambitious Consultant, this is an exciting opportunity to join our busy and visionary department, and a dynamic team of Consultants. The role will have an opportunity to participate in the continuing development and success of our service and support the further development of the Dermatology services. There is scope to increase clinical treatment options in the future.

You will have an interest in providing general medical dermatology services, skin cancer services and tele dermatology. We are keen to hear from consultants with an interest in research and teaching is with participation in projects, courses, etc. to enhance the standing and role of the Department and Trust.You will be encouraged and supported in developing your specialist interest.

Main duties of the job

As well as covering general Dermatology, specialist services at the RUH include see and treat skin cancer clinics, paediatrics - eczema and general, Vulval, joint clinics with Rheumatology, biologics, immune clinics, tele dermatology and a monthly combined clinic for complex patients.

In this role, you will make a difference by contributing to the core activities - general dermatology to include acute medical dermatology for inpatients of all ages including children, skin cancer, skin surgery and tele dermatology.

You will be involved in undertaking clinics in different formats (tele dermatology, face to face, surgical lists, telephone and video consultations and remotely held joint clinics). There is flexibility to work some of this activity remotely from home, especially for SPA and admin time.

You will see a proportionate share of emergency GP and ward referrals between 9am and 5pm on weekdays and per job plan. You will also be involved in covering urgent clinical administrative duties and emergency ward cover for colleagues when absent or on leave.

  • Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice
  • Knowledge and experience of out-patient dermatology and management of acute dermatoses, chronic dermatoses, paediatric dermatology and skin cancer
  • MRCP or equivalent

Desirable

  • MD or PhD

Clinical Experience

Essential

  • Knowledge and experience of out-patient dermatology and management of acute dermatoses, chronic dermatoses, paediatric dermatology and skin cancer
  • Clinical training and experience required for gaining UK CCST in Dermatology (or equivalent)
