Job summary

Robin Smith Ward is a 28 bedded surgical ward, caring for both elective and emergency patients, as well as ITU step down patients. We work with multiple specialties including, Colorectal, Upper GI, Urology, Gynaecology, Max fax, ENT, with a special interest in Enhanced Recovery.

We are a vibrant team, which thrives on team work, to help us provide patient centered post-operative care. We are friendly, hardworking and supportive, and are always looking for new ways to help develop our staff.

The role is an opportunity to work as part of an experienced team, with a proven track record of success. You will have the opportunity to develop your surgical skills, as well as completing additional skills should you wish. You will work alongside highly experienced Nurses and HealthCare Workers, and we will provide you with the support you need whilst you settle into your new position.

We are looking for a dynamic Staff Nurse to join the Robin Smith team, experience is desirable but not essential. On Robin Smith we value a strong work ethic, dependability, and a positive attitude.

Main duties of the job

1. Acting as a Named Nurse, to maintain accountability for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of care within the framework of team nursing.2. To co-ordinate the patients' discharge arrangements in accordance with RUH Discharge Policy.3. To promote a patient focused approach to care in collaboration with all relevant health professionals.4. To educate patients and their carers as required where a need has been identified.5. To provide information which enables patients to make choices about adopting a more healthy lifestyle.6. To complete patient documentation correctly.7. To maintain a safe ward/department environment.8. To assist in establishing and monitoring protocols/care pathways.9. To participate in the promotion and maintenance of effective communication.10.To ensure patient confidentiality.
