Job summary
My name is Mel and I am the Divisional Director of Nursing for Surgery and am looking for an exceptional candidate to join the RUH as my Deputy.
The role of the Deputy will be to provide clinical and professional support to the divisional Matrons and other senior staff across the division; lead strategic programmes across the organisation to deliver the Trust's nursing agenda; continually drive forward learning and improvement and identify and deal with operational issues as they arise; and proactively identify areas for further development and planning.
I am looking for ambitious, knowledgeable, and compassionate senior nurses to provide clinical and managerial leadership. You will act as a role model who inspires, motivates, and empowers staff. Your inclusive leadership style will influence keys responsibilities within the divisional portfolio of nursing workforce and education, patient and staff experience and patient pathways, as well as clinical governance and people with vulnerabilities. You will also have current acute operational experience.
I am looking for applicants who aspire to be a Divisional Nurse Director. Main duties of the job
o Providing clinical and professional support to the divisional matrons, band 7 ward and departmental team leaders and clinical practitioners across the division to ensure effective management and drive change;o Acting as a strong patient advocate ensuring that a culture of continuous improvement and learning is supported in order to drive quality care delivery across the division;o Identifying and dealing with issues of poor performance;o Providing guidance, support and leadership to all nursing staff and facilitating the development of nursing practice to ensure excellent nursing and patient care;o Exploring current practice through regular audit and training, identifying areas for development and planning;o Assisting the Divisional Director of Nursing in the implementation of the corporate nursing agenda; taking a specific strategic lead where requested on allocated corporate roles;o Working with the Chief Nurse and other members of the executive team, divisional directors, speciality managers, matrons, senior sisters/charge nurses and other staff to coordinate the management of patient pathways within and across new and existing services to ensure a safe patient management and flow of services;o In conjunction with the matrons and senior sisters/charge nurses, coordinate the day-to-day nursing activities and ensure adequate skill mix and staff cover for clinical areas.
