Gynaecology Staff Nurse - Band 5

A vacancy has arisen in the RUH Gynaecology Department and Treatment Centre for a qualified nurse, preferably with experience in gynaecology.

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, motivated, and eager to enhance their skills and knowledge in caring for gynaecology patients.

We are seeking a nurse to join our department for 37.5 hours each week. The schedule could be spread over 7 days, but it is likely to be organised over 3 to 4 days. We look forward to welcoming individuals with a passion for women's health to join our team.

Our clinics operate Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend shifts and rotation to the Gynaecology ward.

We are a forward-thinking department that actively encourages ongoing staff development. Previous Band 5 nurses have successfully transitioned into specialist roles, such as Nurse Colposcopist, Early Pregnancy Nurse, and Oncology Nurse Specialist.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be appointed to or come with specific skills and knowledge of caring for women attending General gynae clinics, Gynae oncology clinics, Colposcopy treatment clinic, and procedures such as Hysteroscopy, Bulkamid and Endometrial Ablation. You will be involved in caring for women in the early pregnancy and Gynaecology emergency clinics that run daily.

We have a small Day Surgery Unit where women attend for minor surgery under a general anaesthesia, following a miscarriage or attending for a termination of pregnancy. You will be expected to care for these women as well.

You will be expected to become competent in running /assisting in all aspects of the department clinics, diagnostic treatments and procedures. Having good interpersonal skills is absolutely key.

The department also has specialist Nurse-Led clinics, such as Medical Gynae , Colposcopy and Early Pregnancy Assessment clinics.

You will need to be flexible with regard to working hours/days as it is not possible to offer fixed days.
