Job summary
We are looking to employ enthusiastic and highly motivated individuals to join the General Portering Team at the RUH.
General Portering ensure safe movement of patients to and from wards, clinics and departments throughout the RUH.
General Portering work 24 hours per day 7 days per week
Main duties of the job
This is a physically active and demanding role, in which your primary duties will be the safe transportation of patients to wards, clinics and departments.
There will be lots of walking in the role and also the requirement to use a powered Bedpusher machine(Once Fully Trained & Competant)
There is also the requirement to distribute and collect Post from all Trust Areas. To move equipment, furniture, beds as necessary between areas of the hospital.
You will also assist with distribution and collection of Medical Gases around the RUH Site.
You will be required to use a handheld device to manage any tasks assigned to you to ensure the safe transportation of patients, equipment across site.
We are looking to recruit Individuals who are flexible, highly motivated and who have a professional approach and attitude.
Good Communication Skills and the ability to work as part of a team or independently are essential

The General Portering Team is a team of 36 who provide a professional service to wards, departments, clinics across the Trust
The department operates a rota system for staff shifts, this is covered over a 4 week period and adequate notice is given to staff to ensure an adequate work/life balance
Exposure to distressing instances are part of the role
