Ophthalmology Outpatient Receptionist & Support Administrator

Job summary

  • Duties will include covering the Ophthalmology reception, meeting & greeting patients, entering information and booking appointments onto the hospital patient data computer system (Cerner Millennium), clinic notes prep, making/taking telephone calls, ensuring outcome forms are correctly completed and escalating appropriately and any other admin duties as required.
  • Competent computer skills are essential and a positive, flexible approach to the workload is necessary. This is a busy role which will involve multi-tasking with ever-changing priorities. All relevant training will be provided.

Main duties of the job

Greet patients and relatives at reception in a friendly and courteous manner

To maintain patient details/appointments efficiently on the patient administration system (Millennium)

To process GP and consultant referrals to the Eye Clinic, ensuring that all referral information is accurately logged

To carry out other clerical duties as required; this will include scanning and attaching documents to patient's electronic records, updating spreadsheets, RTT / Outcome form data entry

To be flexible to the needs of the department to ensure cover and smooth-running of the department as a whole
