We have an exciting opportunity for a Housekeeper to join our Maternity Team on a full time Fixed Term 12 month contract here at the RUH.

As our housekeeper, you will work as part of our vibrant Maternity Team to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene on Bath Birthing Centre and sometimes Mary ward. Your work will include:

  • serving and clearing away food
  • ordering and organising non-clinical stock
  • preparing snacks and drinks
  • communicating and working closely with domestic staff to ensure the highest cleaning standards are met.
  • reporting equipment/service faults
  • clerical and administrative tasks
  • keeping the clinical area clean and tidy
  • Communicating with women, birthing people and their families, making them feel welcome.

Main duties of the job

Catering

  • serving and clearing away food
  • preparing snacks and drinks

Cleaning

  • Communicating and working closely with domestic staff to ensure the highest cleaning standards are met.
  • To clean & maintain upkeep of bed areas and birthing rooms.
  • To ensure specialist cleaning of surfaces and medical equipment.
  • To support the ward with environmental cleaning daily, weekly.
  • To support the cleaning tea

Maintain the Environment

  • To provide household maintenance in line with local policy.
  • To carry out regular equipment monitoring in accordance with procedures.
  • To clean and prepare beds and handle linen
  • To monitor the access and security, and use of premises and facilities.
  • To ensure that women's space is respected including attending to women's bedside lockers and bed tables are free from clutter.
  • To assist in maintaining the safety of people's property and belongings.
  • To ensure the safe storage of equipment.
  • To ensure repairs and maintenance to equipment and environment are carried out in line with Trust policy and Estates and MEMO procedure.
  • To ensure that waste is managed correctly.
