Job summary

The post holder to undertake tasks and duties delegated by the department manager or suitably qualified regulated professional. They will work collaboratively with the urology team, with other departments and wards within the hospital and the wider community to meet the needs of the patient, following policy and procedures of the hospital.

The post holder will be covering all types of clinics, assisting in the cystoscopy suite, assisting with procedures and interventions as well as covering administration duties.

You will be expected to become competent in taking blood, catheterising patients, performing flow rates and bladder scans as well as other urological skills.

Main duties of the job

  • Assisting the multi disciplinary team with the smooth running of the clinics in Urology with venepuncture, flow rates, bladder scans and urinalysis
  • Assisting the multi disciplinary team in the cystoscopy suite preparing patients for the procedure, and during the procedure which may include taking bladder biopsy, diathermy, and removing stents.
  • Assisting a registered member of staff with the weekly trial without catheter clinic, including looking after the patient all day including dietary and fluid requirements.
  • Assisting with theatre procedures including circumcisions.
  • Administrative duties as required, scanning documents, answering the phone etc.
