Job summary

The Bath National Pain Centre is one of the largest in the UK, providing local and National Pain Rehabilitation Services. Within this, the secondary care Pain Service has an exciting new vacancy for a Band 7 Physiotherapist to join our supportive and forward thinking team. This Service receives referrals from GPs in Primary Care and Consultant colleagues in secondary care. The successful applicant will be joining a team of physiotherapists across the specialty. We are an evidence based service and highly value research, CPD and attendance at conferences.

The Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist will work independently within the secondary care Pain Clinic, as part of a multidisciplinary team. They will deliver treatment to adults with disability related to chronic pain. The role will include assessment, carrying an individual caseload and delivering group pain management therapy, as well as participation in multidisciplinary team meetings. The team includes Pain Medicine Consultants, a Clinical Psychologist and a Specialist Nursing team.

The Band 7 post offers the opportunity for the right candidate to develop their skills in a supportive and specialised environment.

Main duties of the job

This post would suit a physiotherapist who enjoys working as part of a multidisciplinary team, is looking for career progression and participation in service development.

  • Providing assessments for patients referred to the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) from the Pain Clinic Doctor.
  • Contributing to the MDT and joint decision making and also providing specialist advice within the team regarding patients' physical presentations, physical potential and barriers to functional change
  • Providing Specialist Physiotherapist individual treatment sessions to patients referred for physiotherapy within the Pain Clinic.
  • Co-facilitating a Pain Management Programme.
  • Contributing to research and audit.
  • Teaching and training as part of the MDT and Pain clinic.
