Job summary
The post holder is to provide full and comprehensive admin support for the management of the Radiology Department staffing; being the first point of contact for Radiographic Rotas within the RUH and Community settings.
To co-ordinate the radiographic staffing rotas, liaising with the Consultants, Nursing staff and support staff Line Managers, ensuring all radiographic leave is managed appropriately, this being key to delivering the appropriate cover to enable meeting the departments personnel requirements.
To escalate any rota gaps or operational issues that would affect the day to day operational functioning to the Operational Lead Radiographer and Daily Coordinator.
To support the Radiology Daily Coordinator and Operational Lead Radiographers in decision-making around staff availability, to ensure effective day-to-day management of the Radiology service at the RUH and Community services. This operational effectiveness will be optimised through efficient organisation of workload and staffing.
Main duties of the job
Rotas
- Develop and effectively implement the radiographic staffing rota 6-weeks ahead, ensuring that the modalities and community sites are appropriately covered, and circulate to all relevant staff as necessary. Where availabilities change, review and amend the Rota to ensure the department's staffing commitments are met.
- Manage the OOH email inbox to factor in changes for filling the gaps that affect both the weekly & OOH rota.
- Maintain communication with staff to ensure OOH gaps are filled
Management of radiographic staff leave
- Accurately review and record all radiographic staff leave and liaise with the Operational Lead Radiographer highlighting areas of concern regarding the number on leave at any one time.
- Carry out regular audits of A/L spaces.
- Liaise with radiographic staff to ensure that leave is utilised in the year with no more than 5 days being carried forward.
Staff management
- Maintain accurate records in relation to shift cover, special leave and lieu time, in order to ensure the accuracy of Health Roster prior to finalising by the appropriate staff.
- Manage leave requests and sickness of radiographic staff ensuring accurate records are kept and adequate cover is in place on the rota
General
- Participate in mandatory training programmes as and when required
- Adhere to all Trust policies
- Develop own knowledge and skills to support the efficient running of radiographic staffing within the Radiology Department
- Manage own time to balance commitments of the role
