An exciting developmental opportunity has arisen for a static Band 5 Rheumatology Occupational Therapist. Applications would be welcome from Band 5 Occupational Therapists who are keen to work in this clinical area, but who may not have direct clinical experience.

An enthusiasm to work in this clinical area is essential. You will also need sound communication skills and be able to demonstrate relevant transferrable experience in other clinical areas, e.g. Long-term condition management, Musculoskeletal, and/or Pain Management specialties.

The department has a positive approach to continuing professional development. There is an active in-service training and supervision programme, to help you to prepare for, and excel within your role as a clinician and leader.

Main duties of the job

To work as an occupational therapist, as part of the wider Rheumatology Therapies team based at the Royal United Hospitals Bath.

This service is part of the Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases. Clinical responsibilities include holding a mixed Rheumatology outpatient caseload, inclusive of inflammatory and non-inflammatory arthritis, connective tissue disorders and fibromyalgia. As clinical skills are developed and embedded, the role may be extended to include supporting an Axial Spondyloarthropathies residential group programme and delivering group based outpatient programmes.

There is a requirement to participate in a rheumatology outpatient weekend working rota within this role, once clinical competencies can be demonstrated.
