Job summary
To assist in patient care and other Departmental related duties under the supervision of a Registered nurse. To carry out routine duties, including activities in which the post holder has been assessed as competent by a Registered Nurse. To contribute to a team approach to patient care in conjunction with nursing colleagues and all members of the multi-disciplinary team, and work in accordance with the Unit Philosophies and hospital policies at all times.
This will involve the preparation of clinic, treatment rooms and equipment. The clinic nurses role is to support the patients attending those clinics, acting as their chaperone and advocate whilst having examinations and treatments. As well as ensuring that they understand what is occurring and why, giving them appropriate written information.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be helping to care for patient attending for oral surgery clinics, skin cancer removal treatments.
We have a small Day Surgery Unit where patients attend for Minor surgery under a local anaesthetic, following a diagnosis of skin cancer or surgical treatments to head and neck and intra orally.
Good interpersonal skills are absolutely key and you will be expected to become competent in assisting with most aspects of the out-patients department.
We would encourage informal visits - come and meet us. This is an ideal opportunity to join a dedicated specialist team of nursing staff, who work with an excellent team of Consultants and Medical Staff.
