Job summary
We are looking to appoint a Clinical Research Physiologist / Scientist in pulmonary hypertension echocardiography. The post-holder will be expected to undertake a body of clinical based research in echocardiography screening of patients with suspected pulmonary hypertension with a view to submitting a PhD thesis at the end of the study period. The PhD will be registered at the University of Bath (Department for Health). The group's focus is on developing screening algorithms by echocardiography for identifying PH earlier in the disease course. There is likely to be the opportunity to submit work for conference presentation, publish a series of peer reviewed original papers in quality journals, as well as the possibility of training in medical statistics and academic writing.
The post is fixed term for 3 years (0.8 WTE) through an external grant.
Main duties of the job
There are no specific clinical duties as part of this role however, opportunities will be present to attend pulmonary hypertension echocardiography clinics to increase exposure as needed during the period of research. The post holder will be working alongside the clinical team and carrying out patient facing tasks as part of the study protocol including consenting for the research study and pulmonary hypertension echocardiograms in the cardiology department. They will also be undertaking analysis of these echocardiograms akin to current clinical practice.
