Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated person with Radiopharmacy experience to join our growing team of Pharmacy Assistants and Technicians.

This is an exciting time to join the Aseptic Services Team and be involved in the re opening of the fully equipped Radiopharmacy Unit located within the Aseptic Services Unit.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will oversee the day to day running of the Radiopharmacy unit whilst working closely with Senior staff to develop the Service. Alongside this crucial role, they will also act as an Radiation Protection Supervisor (external training provided) overseeing processes, training and staff working within the Radiopharmacy Unit.

Candidates must have a NVQ3 / BTEC in Pharmacy Services or equivalent nationally recognised qualification, registered with The General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and have post qualification experience of working in an Radiopharmacy environment at a Band 5 level or above.

Qualifications & Training

Essential

  • NVQ 3 and BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science of Equivalent.
  • Accredited Pre and In Process Checker or willing to undertake the accreditation.
  • Relevant knowledge of Radiopharmacy, aseptic dispensing and techniques, GMP and QA acquired through training, experience and knowledge.

Desirable

  • NVQ Assessor accrediation or equivalent.
  • Management qualification.

Knowledge & Experiance

Essential

  • Significant experience of working in Radiopharmacy environment at a Band 5 level or above.
  • Knowledge of the principals of aseptic dispensing.
  • Experience and knowledge of health and safety, GMP, QA, QC and radiation protection.
  • Knowledge of safe handling of cytotoxic drugs and radioactive products including storage and spillage.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety issues and their implications for staff. Experience of error reporting.
  • Experience in developing and implementing SOPs
  • Proven ability to manage own workload and the workload of others, delegating supervision activities as appropriate.
  • Experience of assessing the work of others, feeding back appropriately and ensuring staff are working within defined SOPs
  • Experience in supervising Pharmacists, Pharmacy technicians and students.

  • Experience of working in a commercial licensed unit.
  • Experience of working dynamically and coordinating colleagues to ensure a safe, robust and competent workforce.
  • Implementation of policies, experience of proposing changes to working practices, procedures etc. which impact on other areas, suggesting changes to policies that impact beyond own area.
  • Mentoring and / Coaching skills.
  • Experience of audit.
  • Experience of data and fact analysis and ability to put recommendations in place as a result of this. Knowledge and experience of recording data, including sensitive information, on pharmacy computerised data record systems.
