Job summary
Are you an aspiring nurse leader who is ready to take on the next challenge? Do you have experience working as a Senior Nurse and have excellent leadership and communication skills?
We are looking for an experienced Senior Sister/Senior Charge Nurse or experienced Sister to lead our dedicated Trauma and Orthopedic teams. We have two dedicated mixed sex trauma wards where we care for patients who have sustained orthopaedic injuries and a dedicated 12-bed elective orthopedic ward.
As a Senior Sister/Senior Charge Nurse you will work collaboratively with a great nursing team and provide strong leadership, effective team management, and staff development.
You will be responsible for the delivery of clinical services on the ward, coupled with supporting quality governance, patient experience, and nursing workforce and education. You must be able to provide kind, skilled, and expert leadership to support the ward, whilst possessing the ability to innovate, motivate others, and deliver sustained improvements.
We are a forward-thinking specialty and actively encourage ongoing staff development. As a group of Senior Nurses, and as a wider Division, we are a very close-knit team who are extremely supportive of each other, understand the pressures that each of us face, and work together to provide outstanding care to all our patients, as well as providing fantastic leadership to our staff.
Main duties of the job
Your responsibilities would be varied and would include:
- Accountable for the twenty-four hour care delivery and management of the Pierce including the supervision of staff and students
- Maintaining visible presence and providing a clear focus for effective clinical leadership to the team
- Professionally accountable and responsible for assessing skill mix and team structures and implementing changes in working practices ensuring that care processes and systems support the delivery of high quality patient care
- Promoting a personalised patient centred approach to care in collaboration with carers, relatives and health care professionals.
- Working collaboratively with PALS and patient forums to investigate and resolve patient concerns and complaints
- Ensuring the rights, dignity, privacy, respect and confidentiality of all our patients
- Holding regular ward meetings, providing the opportunity for all our staff to discuss and also to share organisational and professional information
- Implementing staff wellbeing standards and promoting a culture where staff feel valued and listened to
