Job summary

Band: 3 Training Nursing Associate Intensive Care

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Contract: 27 Months

The Nursing Associate role has been designed nationally to meet the future healthcare needs of the population. Registered Nursing Associates work alongside existing nursing care support workers and Registered Nurses to deliver hands-on care for patients. Whenyou qualify as a Nursing Associate, you will register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

The Apprentice Nursing Associate programme is due to start the 21st February 2024 and training takes approximately 24 months. During the training you will be employed as a Band 3. On successful completion, you will be offered a Band 4 RNA post within our ICU.

In order to apply, you must meet the following essential criteria which must be evidenced in your application form and at interview.

  • Minimum of 6-12 months acute care (Hospital) experience
  • English and Math's grade 4 or above OR functional skills in Math's and English level 2
  • Level 3 Qualification or A-level equivalent
  • You are able to demonstrate an interest in the Critical Care environment on application and at interview

Main duties of the job

This role forms part of a SWCCN pilot for TNA's in the Critical Care environment.

This is an apprenticeship role working towards progressing into the post of Band 4 Nursing Associate, through developing and maintaining knowledge, skills and competencies related to Nursing Associate role. Successful completion of the Nursing Associate Apprenticeship programme will include the attainment of a level 5 Foundation Degree equivalent qualification.

The Apprentice will work as part of a team, delivering health and social care that focuses on the direct needs of service users. They will carry out specific clinical tasks and responsibilities as delegated by registered practitioners and will be able to work across the boundaries of care and organisations.

You will be expected to learn during your host placement and external placements as organised by the Nurse Development Team and the University, including a range of shifts and departments. BPP university will support your academic studies and you will attend this in blocks of study and placement.
