Full-Time Administrator / Medical Secretary - Trauma and Orthopaedics - Band 3
As a Band 3 administrator / medical secretary you will join a dynamic team who are focused on providing a full and comprehensive secretarial / administrative support to the trauma and orthopaedic directorate.
The Orthopaedic Directorate is a large specialty looking after both trauma and elective patients. We have a vacancy for a motivated and enthusiastic administrator / secretary to work in a fast paced environment. We are looking for an individual with excellent keyboard, audio and communication skills who works well as a member of a team whilst being able to use their own initiative.
This department employs a flexible approach and offers a variety of home and office working.
Training & support will be provided in this challenging yet, rewarding role.
Main duties of the job
1. To provide a complete medical secretarial service including word processing, filing, audio typing, scanning and the composition of letters. To provide a fast and accurate copy and audio typing service to the Department, producing clinic letters and other documents. 2. Preparing and organising papers and notes for meetings, attending and taking notes when necessary.3. To liaise with Nurses, Doctors and other members of the Multi-Disciplinary Team including Inpatient & Outpatient Bookings teams to provide a quality service for the patients.4. To work as part of a team sharing responsibility for the smooth running of the post.5. When required to provide a first point of contact, answering telephone enquiries, taking and relaying messages in a polite and helpful manner and using own judgement to establish the priority of issues and taking action as appropriate. To arrange patient appointments when necessary.6. To assist with the smooth running of the Consultant diaries and organise meetings as appropriate.
