Job summary

Are you looking for a new challenge working both administratively and clinically? The day 5 newborn screening team is looking for a one year fixed term maternity cover for a Band 4 failsafe officer 30 hours per week. The role will involve supporting and deputising for the Newborn Screening Manager as well as working clinically, covering NICU hearing screens as well as some day 5 screening. We are looking for someone who puts high quality care at the heart of everything they do and is a fantastic team player with a great sense of humour. Full on the job training will be provided and the successful candidate will be enrolled on the Level 3 Hearing Screening Diploma which based on the Health and Social Care Diploma with additional units on hearing and the hearing pathway etc. Training will be provided in house. Main duties of the job

  • Work closely with the multi-disciplinary teams to ensure eligible women and babies are offered timely newborn screening and postnatal care .
  • To oversee the input of information, including examinations, results and appointments onto local and national databases via failsafe processes.
  • To implement and carry out failsafe checks for the newborn screening programes under the supervision of the ANNB Screening Co-Ordinator and NHSP Manager.
  • To maintain local and national databases with accurate data for babies who refer for care and provide detailed analysis for the quarterly KPIs, Quarterly and Annual reports.
  • To meet the targets as defined by the NHS Screening Programme standards
  • alert/escalate issues to the ANNB Co-Ordinator and NHSP Manager of impending breeches with identified remedial actions taken and mitigations.
  • To liaise closely with the ANNB Screening Co-ordinator, NHSP Manager and the multidisciplinary teams
  • Liaise as appropriately with external service providers.
  • To book urgent and routine appointments via various appointment systems and ensure all appointments
  • To ensure that clinics are being utilised efficiently and reduce loss of capacity by cancelling appointments or re-arranging appointments
  • To respond to and re-direct all screening mail
  • To provide administrative support
  • To arrange interpreters for women
