Job summary

Pierce Ward has an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join a friendly, supportive and experienced team, and help us to deliver high quality care to our orthopaedic patients.

Pierce is a trauma and orthopaedic ward that provides high quality care to our trauma orthopaedic patients. It is a busy, energetic place to work with a close team. Pierce Ward is proud to provide excellent care to patients from admission through to discharge. The post will be a permanent full time/part time (negotiable) , and will provide the successful candidate with new skills, competence and development opportunities as well as the security of being part of a knowledgeable, supportive team.

We welcome both experienced and newly qualified nurses. Ideally you should be motivated, enthusiastic and keen to learn about orthopaedics.

Main duties of the job

To work according to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and relevant professional guidelines as a named nurse or key worker (with facilitation) for a defined group of patients and take responsibility for:

  • The assessment of care and health education needs
  • The development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care including discharge planning for each patient

To gain experience and skills in:

  • Clinical practice
  • Facilitation and teaching
  • Management (as appropriate

To work in accordance with the RUH Nursing Strategy and contribute towards achieving its objectives and maintain effective communication and participate in clinical supervision as appropriate and to teach and act as a facilitator/mentor/preceptor/ role model to less experienced staff.
