Job summary
An exciting opportunity for a fixed-term Trust Doctor post within the Older Persons Until has arisen. This post is for an ST1-5 trust doctor in Geriatric Medicine depending on previous experience. The post is for a period of 4-12 months, as soon as possible, depending on the applicant's situation.
Main duties of the job
You will work on one of our OPU wards with that ward's team of geriatric consultants, along with a team of SHOs, specialist Medical Nurse Practitioners and Physician Associates. Depending on the situation with the COVID pandemic you may be responsible for patients with COVID or a cohort of COVID contacts.
You will be responsible for the regular review and management of the inpatients on your ward under the supervision of the ward geriatricians. There will also be opportunity to gain outpatients experience in general or specialist clinics. The post involves working standard days Monday to Friday, with the option of participation in the general medical registrar on-call rota.
You will be part of the multidisciplinary team arranging ongoing rehabilitation and discharge. You will be expected to have very good communication skills and communicate regularly with the MDT, patients and their relatives.
