Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Psychologist to work in an interdisciplinary Team (IDT) providing national specialist interventions for people with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) and pain related Complex Cancer Late Effects.
As part of the team the post holder will contribute to the assessment clinics. Adults are treated both in groups and individually. The clinically work is varied including psychoeducation and brief therapy within ACT and Compassion Focused Therapy models.

This post is suitable for a newly qualified or more experienced Clinical Psychologist as it is within an experienced and supportive team.
Main duties of the job
- To provide assessment and intervention to people with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) and pain related Complex Cancer Late Effects.
- To assess an individual's current mental health status and identify any risks/needs that could impact on their ability to participate in a self-management rehabilitation programme.
- Deliver highly specialist clinical psychology, within research focused interdisciplinary team (IDT). For a National Specialist Service for adults with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome and a Highly Specialist Service for adults with pain related Complex Cancer Late Effects. To ensure that psychosocial factors are understood, and that there is a clear psychological formulation for patients receiving treatment from the IDT, and ongoing risk assessment and management.
- To ensure that all patients receive evidence based psychological assessment and intervention appropriate to their clinical needs.
- To work with the Services Lead to ensure the Interdisciplinary Team provides a coherent, compassionate, safe and effective treatment informed by Psychology.
- To participate in other activities that support the Pain Specialty purposes, such as supporting research and audit, providing education, training and supervision.
- To participate in the out of hours BIH manager rota. This involves providing telephone support and advice for the HCA team in the patient accommodation outside of office hours if required.
