Job summary
Do you have an interest in the application of science and technology in healthcare?
Do you possess good interpersonal and analytical skills? Would you like to pursue a well paid career with good prospects helping supporting radiotherapy delivery on a daily basis?
As part of your apprenticeship you will study for a BSc (Hons) degree in Healthcare Science at the University of West of England and will be eligible upon completion of your three year apprenticeship to apply for entry on the Register of Clinical Technologists. There are no tuition fees to pay and you will be supported throughout with a generous study leave package and lots of 'on the job' training.
There may also be an opportunity to join the department as a permanent member of staff but please note that your new found skills as a qualified healthcare science practitioner will be in high demand as there is a national shortage of trained staff!
Main duties of the job
The Radiotherapy Physics service provides scientific support to the Radiotherapy Departments of the Royal United Hospital NHS Trust.
The successful candidate will undertake practical training in: carrying out patient radiotherapy computer treatment planning and checking; measuring patient received radiation doses and radiotherapy equipment radiation output and quality control.
The successful applicant will be involved in all aspects of the service throughout their apprenticeship with some opportunity for service development project work.
