Job summary
Applications are invited for a Consultant Cardiologist, with a sub-specialty interests in PCI, to join the existing nine Cardiologists at the Royal United Hospital, Bath.
Bath is a beautiful Georgian city in the south west of the UK, and is a World Heritage Site. It is within easy reach of Devon/Cornwall and South Wales, whilst maintaining more general accessibility through excellent rail, motorway and airport links.
The RUH provides Cardiology services to a local population of approximately 550,000. The Cardiology Department is composed ofa modern 8-bedded coronary care unit, a cardiology ward (36 beds), 6 bedded cardiac day case unit and two cardiac catheterisation suites. Angioplasty (includinga CTO program and daytime PPCI),cardiac CT / MRI, nuclear perfusion scanning, DSE and TOE are well established on site services. Cardiology partners respiratory medicine locally providing a tertiary pulmonary hypertension service to the South West and South Wales. Currently, RUH cardiologists, contribute to the regional provision of 'out of hours' PPCI in partnership with The Bristol Heart Institute
Main duties of the job
This post welcomes a Cardiologist with sub-specialty interest in PCI and complex PCI. A dynamic and enthusiastic Cardiologist is sought to develop these services locally.
The post-holder will undertake regular out-patient clinics and sub-specialty sessions combined with ward work, taking part in the management of acute cardiac admissions. There will be a requirement for some flexibility in working pattern.
Participation in the regional PPCI rota is a mandatory requirement for this post.
There is no commitment to the GIM take or the local cardiology on call unless requested by the applicant
