Medicines Management Pharmacy Technician

Job summary

We are pleased to offer this exciting opportunity for an exceptional pharmacy technician to join our team to cover maternity leave for 9 months.

As the successful postholder, you will work alongside clinical pharmacists supporting the medicines management service to the wards, to ensure that patients receive the highest standards of care in the management of their medication. Duties will include medicines reconciliation, assessment of patients own drugs (PODS), checking of medication for discharge and counselling of patients.

You will be a registered pharmacy technician, ready for a new challenge and able to show initiative in supporting service improvements. You will be a team player and have good problem-solving skills.

Main duties of the job

This post is responsible for the delivery of a clinical pharmacy technician service to the Acute and Emergency Care areas. The post holder liaises closely with the relevant clinical pharmacist and refers appropriately when necessary to provide a safe, efficient, and cost-effective pharmaceutical services to patients.

You will support the Clinical Pharmacy Service Manager and the Head of Pharmacy Operational Services with the strategic development of ward-based services and ensuring that the overall pharmacy services are consistent , integrated, and co-ordinated.

You will further develop and standardise the ward-based service by reviewing procedures and systems of work to ensure safe and efficient process and making recommendations towards service delivery.

As part of the job role, you will also undertake dispensing, final checking, mentoring/training and supervisory duties.
