Job summary
The post holder will be based in the Orthopaedic Outpatient Department Plaster Room and will care for patients with a range of trauma and orthopaedic conditions
Orthopaedic Practitioners are registered with the British Orthopaedic Association and hold The British Casting Certificate, they care for patients with a range of trauma and orthopaedic conditions. Duties include the application and removal of plaster casts and splints, wound care and assistance with procedures such as manipulations of fractures and dislocations. The position involves working in collaboration with orthopedic consultants and the wider multi-disciplinary team providing care that is efficient, holistic, consistently of a high standard and in accordance with Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn NHS Foundation Trust policies and procedures
The successful post holder will either be be a qualified Orthopaedic Practitioner who holds the British Casting Certificate or will be a motivated applicant willing to undergo specific training and gain relevant supervised practice experience
A trainee would require commitment to developing the wide range of practical skills as well as having the motivation to undertake self-directed study over a period of one year. A trainee would be required to undertake a six-week training course including a written and practical assessment at The Stanmore Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in order to successfully obtain the British Casting Certificate.
