Critical Care Practice Development Nurse

Job summary

This pivotal role involves spearheading the continuous professional and clinical development of nursing staff and students within the Adult Critical Care Unit.

The Critical Care Practice Development Nurse will lead in initiatives to develop and implement evidence-based clinical practices, and participate in clinical audit, service improvement and research activities aiming to enhance patient care and outcomes.

Collaboration with the senior nursing team and other healthcare professionals is crucial to maintaining a high standard of nursing practice across the unit. This position requires an expert level of knowledge in Critical Care nursing, exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to effectively manage rapidly changing clinical situations.

Responsibilities include designing educational curricula, delivering lectures and hands-on training, and assessing and providing feedback on student and staff performances to ensure learning outcomes are met and recording systems are in place to indicate progress and compliance with training requirements.

This role requires a proactive approach, with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and continuous improvement in patient care.

Main duties of the job

Be an effective practitioner and professional role model, demonstrating the ability to confidently lead in the provision of a high-quality service in critical care.

Work in the critical care clinical environment to facilitate a continuous process of critically evaluating and improving education provision, ensuring effective patient focused care.

Nurture the development of an active positive clinical learning environment which supports interprofessional collaboration and encourages personal and professional growth in critical care.

Review, identify, lead and feedback on strategies to improve learner's engagement, learning, assessment and completion of the CC3N competencies.

Ensure a high standard of evidence-based nursing practice by undertaking clinical audit and research activities.

Demonstrate enhanced leadership skills and act as an effective role model, an expert resource and facilitator for others requiring knowledge, experience and guidance within the Critical Care clinical environment.
