Job summary

In this role you will lead on the strategic development and implementation of our statutory duties and requirements under the Mental capacity Act (MCA), Gillick competence and the Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS) working across the Trust and with our partners to ensure that the principles, function, and application, of MCA / LPS is embedded within all appropriate policies and services.

In addition, you will be responsible for the operational development, management and delivery of systems and processes in respect of MCA/DoLS/LPS to support the Trust meet its legal duty.

Main duties of the job

Are you.

  • a Nursing or Health / Social Care graduate, currently registered with an appropriate Health & Social Care Regulatory Body?
  • experienced in applying MCA and DOLS, and implementing Best Interest Meetings
  • It would be desirable to be a Best Interest Assessor
  • currently working at senior manager level in the NHS or other Public Sector organisation?
  • able to convey complex information in a variety of appropriate methods, ranging from Senior Managers to patients who lack capacity?
  • able and prepared to be based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital site in King's Lynn for 5 days a week?
  • ready to move into a senior role supporting professional safeguarding for adults and children in an NHS hospital, and deputising for the Lead Safeguarding Professional when required?

About us

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) King's Lynn is West Norfolk has a superb unspoilt coastline with pretty villages, all with their own individual charm. The medieval port of King's Lynn has some very interesting architecture.

We provide a comprehensive range of specialist and general acute services to around 331,000 people across West and North Norfolk, in addition to parts of Breckland, Cambridgeshire and South Lincolnshire. We have more than 4,000 staff and volunteers and approximately 500 beds on a single site. Some specialist services and clinics are provided in community facilities, such as the North Cambridgeshire hospital in Wisbech. We work in partnership with neighbouring hospitals for the provision of tertiary services.

In February 2022 the QEH the Care Quality Commission rated the Trust as 'Good' in all of the core services they inspected, and recommended the Trust moves out of the recovery support system (formerly special measures).
