Job summary

An excellent opportunity has arisen for Healthcare Assistants to join The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn, on a bank basis.

As a Healthcare Assistant, you will be a valued member of our team. Your focus will be on keeping patients at the centre of all we do, providing high quality care.

We are looking for individuals who uphold our trust values to contribute to making our patients feel comfortable and well cared for during their stay.

You are required to be flexible and adaptable to meet the ever changing needs of the hospital environment.

Our aim is to provide our patients with the highest quality of personal care and support while they are in hospital.

As a Healthcare Assistant, you will be responsible for working under delegation and supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Please note due to high volume of applications for some posts, this post may close before the displayed closing date. We recommend that you apply for this role as soon as possible.

**If you are interested in a substantive position with the Trust rather than bank please apply via the separate advertisement**

Please note : You will be paid for induction only once you complete 100 hours of bank work, which must be completed within a one year period from the first day following your final supernumerary shift. Please be advised that your induction and supernumerary sessions do not count towards the completion of 100 hours of work.

Main duties of the job

We are currently looking for enthusiastic and motivated Health Care Support Workers to join our teams and support them in providing effective care in a safe and therapeutic environment. We have vacancies across the Trust and are offering positions for all those areas.

The successful applicants must have:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate flexibility
  • Be able to work as part of a team as well as make decisions autonomously
  • Be willing to undertake further training and Mandatory updates as deemed necessary

Previous experience of working within a care environment or the NHS is desirable but not essential as you will be supported whilst learning the role.

Successful candidates will attend the GROW Programme, this is the QEHKL's enhanced induction programme. This includes mandatory training (the training that all clinical staff at the hospital complete). You will be taught the fundamental skills you need to perform your role and attend the Caring with Kindness programme (essential learning from patient experience). The course is very practical - you will have plenty of time to practice new skills before you start your new role.

About us

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) King's Lynn is located near some of the most beautiful scenery in the UK, along the north Norfolk coast, and not far from Sandringham House.

We provide a comprehensive range of specialist, acute, obstetrics and community-based healthcare services to around 331,000 people across west and north Norfolk, in addition to parts of Breckland, Cambridgeshire and South Lincolnshire.

We have more than 4,000 staff and volunteers, approximately 530 beds, and a helipad for air ambulances. We work with neighbouring hospitals for the provision of tertiary services, including as part of regional partnership and network models of care, such as the trauma network.

In February 2022 the significant progress that has been made at QEH was recognised by the Care Quality Commission who rated the Trust as 'Good' in all of the core services they inspected. They recommended the Trust moves out of the recovery support system (formerly special measures).
