Job summary

Working as part of the Divisional Leadership Team, alongside the Divisional General Manager and the Divisional Director, the post holder will be professionally, operationally and managerially responsible for the clinical professional staffing in the Clinical Support Services division.

Through strong clinical leadership the Head of Clinical Professional Staffing will support the teams to promote excellence in patient care to maintain and improve clinical standards and the quality of care.

Patient experience is a key responsibility of the role to ensure that care is delivered to the highest quality, inspiring patient and public confidence. This will be achieved through high visibility, accessibility and surveillance and by listening to feedback from our service users through the Patient and Carer Experience Forum, and the Friends and Family Test feedback.

The Head of Clinical Professional Staffing will provide a strong professional voice within the Division advocating for the patient and staff whilst ensuring credible leadership delivery for Operational and medical leadership and management as required.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide clinical leadership to staff within areas of responsibility, ensuring implementation of and compliance with policies and procedures ensuring the delivery of high value, family centred, responsive and efficient patient care
  • Ensure regular contact with all clinical areas to maintain a direct understanding of clinical priorities and patient/staff concerns
  • Ensure services are delivered in a highly professional and clinically safe manner, in conjunction with the corporate team and in accordance with local and national policies and procedures, including compliance with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards
  • Be responsible for advancing clinical practice across the Trust
  • Ensure practice is in accordance with professional registrations and any specific competencies for the role are completed
  • Take responsibility for ensuring effective capacity and demand management across service areas, in order to meet activity and waiting time directives, in line with the wider service performance plan, making use of specialist clinical skills and experience

About us

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) King's Lynn is located near some of the most beautiful scenery in the UK, along the north Norfolk coast, and not far from Sandringham House.

We provide a comprehensive range of specialist, acute, obstetrics and community-based healthcare services to around 331,000 people across west and north Norfolk, in addition to parts of Breckland, Cambridgeshire and South Lincolnshire.

We have more than 4,000 staff and volunteers, approximately 530 beds, and a helipad for air ambulances. We work with neighbouring hospitals for the provision of tertiary services, including as part of regional partnership and network models of care, such as the trauma network.

In February 2022 the significant progress that has been made at QEH was recognised by the Care Quality Commission who rated the Trust as 'Good' in all of the core services they inspected. They recommended the Trust moves out of the recovery support system (formerly special measures).
