Junior Sister/Charge Nurse - Denver Ward

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a senior staff nurse to develop their leadership and management skills on Denver Ward as a junior sister/charge nurse.

Denver ward is a 31 bedded emergency surgical ward which specialises in caring for patients with complex colorectal conditions who require surgery. Denver ward also cares for patients who require other emergency surgery which can include; Appendicitis, Cholecystitis, and Hernia repairs.

We are looking for someone who is compassionate, thrives to grow professionally and personally, and loves to work as part of a team.

Main duties of the job

Responsibilities include ensuring the team deliver effective patient care by providing appropriate clinical and managerial leadership.

We are looking for an experienced nurse who can demonstrate their ability to support the team and the ward manager, promote effective high quality patient care whilst managing a team and embrace daily challenges utilising appropriate clinical decision making.

You should have excellent organisational and clinical skills and be able to communicate at all levels.

You will ensure that legislation, policies and procedures are correctly applied within the team and action any issues promptly.

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) King's Lynn is West Norfolk has a superb unspoilt coastline with pretty villages, all with their own individual charm. The medieval port of King's Lynn has some very interesting architecture.

We provide a comprehensive range of specialist and general acute services to around 331,000 people across West and North Norfolk, in addition to parts of Breckland, Cambridgeshire and South Lincolnshire. We have more than 4,000 staff and volunteers and approximately 500 beds on a single site. Some specialist services and clinics are provided in community facilities, such as the North Cambridgeshire hospital in Wisbech. We work in partnership with neighbouring hospitals for the provision of tertiary services.

In February 2022 the QEH the Care Quality Commission rated the Trust as 'Good' in all of the core services they inspected, and recommended the Trust moves out of the recovery support system (formerly special measures).
