We have an exciting opportunity to join the Oral Surgery and Maxillofacial Department at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Applicants are invited to apply for the post of Consultant Orthodontist either full time or part time helping to provide an orthodontic service to The Queen Elizabeth NHS Foundation Trust with responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of malocclusion, and the proper functioning of the department.
This is a post advertised as part of successional planning for our retiring Consultant to be able to start as part time or to take on the post full time if interested.
We would also consider applications for an NHS Locum Consultant, should this suit your profile.
The department is supported by main hospital radiographic facilities and works jointly with the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital in the management of patients needing a combined orthodontic/orthognathic procedure as part of our ICB. They also work jointly with Guys and St Thomas's NHS Trust in the management of Hypodontia patients.
The Orthodontic department has the use of two surgeries, a dental lab and an Associate Specialist who has a special interest in orthodontics.
Main duties of the job
- Help provide an Orthodontic service to the Queen Elizabeth NHS Foundation Trust with responsibility for the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of malocclusion, and the proper functioning of the department.
- Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of orthodontic patients, including interdisciplinary cases
- To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and Audit.
- To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing medical education (CME).
- To take active part in Orthodontic training and education for the local general practitioners and Departmental trainees.
- Managerial, Including budgetary responsibilities where appropriate
