Laboratory Manager- Senior Orthodontic Technician

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Orthodontic Laboratory for an experienced and forward thinking Senior Orthodontic Technician/Lab Manager (Band 7).

You will have sole responsibility for the running of the Lab and providing high quality appliances for the small orthodontic- oral surgery team.

You will need to be competent in orthodontic appliance production including bite raising splints and sleep apnoea appliances. You must be fully registered with the GDC and hold recognized qualification(s) plus experience, whether that be in a commercial or hospital laboratory.

The interview process will include a timed aptitude test.

Main duties of the job

You will have sole responsibility for the running of the laboratory, prioritising workload appropriately. As a member of the Orthodontics and Oral Surgery team, you will work closely with clinicians, working to deadlines to produce high quality Orthodontic and oral surgery appliances as requested.This will involve planning and co-ordinating work allocation on a day-to-day basis, including chair side adjustments to appliances.The role will involve the planning, design and construction of simple orthodontic appliances simple partial dentures and occlusal splints (both hard and soft for TMJ analysis and other forms of bite raising problems including sleep apnoea devices).You will be familiar with disinfection protocols of impressions to ensure that saliva/oral debris has been removed, and will work in line with Medical Device Regulations.As part of the wider team, you will be supported by the clinical teams as appropriate. Another qualified technician is also onsite to refer to if required.With a varied and challenging workload, the role will be well suited to an individual seeking to develop their skill set and produce work to a high standard, working closely with the clinical team as part of a seamless and efficient patient pathway.
