Are you an Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner?
Would you like to experience working in a District General Hospital by the beautiful north Norfolk Coast? Maybe you want to stay in your present job but would like some flexibility to add a different experience for some of your working time. Then this is your chance to share your expertise to join a group of five ANNPs who have worked in a team which has developed since 2005.
When babies and their mothers need hospital care in North West Norfolk they come to the Women and Childrens Directorate in The Queen Elizabeth Foundation Trust Hospital based in Kings Lynn. The ANNP team work within this Directorate and they are based on the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Main duties of the job
Can I have some help please? a question you will have asked and a good collaborative relationship has been established with the Midwifery and Medical team to work with the ANNPs within Central Delivery Suite, Midwifery Led Birthing Unit, Maternity Ward and to help the Midwives providing care in the Community.
Your daily routine would also include being able to share and practice your clinical and leadership skills when providing care and treatment for babies and their families on NICU and transitional care. This would include working with a supportive multi disciplinary team including the nursing staff, neonatal community team, the Hospital Safeguarding Team and Paediatric medical team; 12 Consultants, Paediatric Registrars and a rotational Medical trainee post on the ANNP team.
About us
The NICU at QEHKL is classed as a local neonatal unit (level 2) with 16 cots 1 intensive care, 2 high dependency, 9 special care and 4 transitional care cots shared with the maternity ward.
You would have the opportunity to work with the team to care for those babies who are born from 27 weeks onwards, need non invasive respiratory support or short term ventilation; and to work in collaboration with the Paediatric and Neonatal Decision Support and Retrieval service (PANDR), and the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital Tertiary Unit to stabilise those babies who need transfer for other intensive care.

Your further education and development would be provided by a programme of specific neonatal and mandatory update sessions provided through the Eastern Neonatal Network and locally with opportunities for you to contribute. Midwifery, Nursing and Medical students are actively supported in the Directorate in collaboration with three Universities.
The Women and Childrens Directorate have an active programme of development and review and you would be able to join in with developing guidelines, audit, research and clinical governance reviews. Some future neonatal developments are planned to support the main strategic objectives of the Hospital including:
QUALITY - Improve care with the introduction of the Kaiser sepsis pathway
ENGAGEMENT - Working with families towards providing phototherapy in the community
HEALTH LIVES - Reduce trauma by introducing Low Impact Surfactant Administration
