Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen, fortwo trust grade doctor posts to join our progressive and friendly department in the middle grade rota for the Obstetrics & Gynaecology services within Kings Lynn, Norfolk.

This is a senior registrar level post (ST6-7 level) covering both elective and emergency work in obstetrics and Gynaecology (on-calls, theatres and outpatient clinics).

The candidate will be required to be GMC registered and have completed the competencies required for senior registrar level in O&G.

It will be desirable for candidate to have completed relevant ATSM, or being post CCT looking forward to add to the experience, but the ATSM and CCT are not essential.

It will be expected that the candidate has shown commitment towards training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology by maintaining a log book, competency record, CTG certificates, attending courses and completing regular audits.

Main duties of the job

Clinical

To provide ST6-7 clinical service in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology

To take part in a full shift rota (1:8 on-call) with other specialty doctors

Attending theatres ( 8 am in the morning , 1 pm in the afternoon) for pre operative rounds, surgery and post operative review

Outpatient clinics Gynaecology and Antenatal (Subspecialty clinics) at both Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Kings Lynn and North Cambridgeshire hospital, Wisbech

EPU Supporting EPU services

Supporting the junior doctors (F2 and GP)

Ward rounds

Good record keeping, liaison with seniors and communication with multi disciplinary team

The Obstetrics and Gynaecology department is a key aspect of the Women and Childrens Clinical Business Unit and is increasingly important to the hospital as a whole. The department specialises in several different Gynaecology services such as;

  • Uro-Gynaecology
  • Urodynamics
  • Percutaneous Tibial Nerve Stimulation (PTNS)
  • Post-menopausal bleeding
  • Colposcopy
  • Ambulatory Hysteroscopy
  • Nurse led vaginal prolapse/Pessary Clinic
  • EPAU

This post will provide excellent clinical experience, with an opportunity for personal development. This post is at middle grade ST6 level and for 12 months period. This may be extended further depending on the individual performance.
