Job summary

Applications are invited for Senior Queen Elizabeth Hospital Fellow posts in General Medicine. These posts will initially be available for 12 months with the option to extend further.

Main duties of the job

We provide a comprehensive range of specialist, acute, obstetrics and community based services. Our Macmillan Centre provides palliative care for patients with cancer and other chronic illnesses and we have a Charter Mark award-winning Day Surgery Centre; treatment for cancer patients is amongst the best in the country.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • Participate in mandatory training, annual appraisal and revalidation.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to junior medical staff.
  • Contribute to departmental quality review including morbidity and mortality, complaints, and key performance indicators within the Acute Medicine dashboard.
  • To undertake audit of clinical practice within the department to ensure that current standards and evidence-based practice are applied.
  • Continuing Medical Education: All consultants are required to maintain and develop their clinical skills. Individual training and development needs will be identified through an appraisal process taking into account Royal College requirements.

Risk Management: To work within the Trusts clinical risk management policies and in particular to participate as appropriate in clinical incident
