About us In 2026, Sheffield Children's will open the National Centre for Child Health Technology (NCCHT) at The Spark - the only facility of its kind in the UK and a symbol of our continuing ambition to lead globally in research and innovation. We're leading the next generation of child health innovation through developments in technology, treatments and how care is delivered, continuing a legacy of innovation that began 150 years ago. The £24.2m purpose built, world leading, research and technology centre sited at the Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park in Attercliffe will radically transform healthcare delivery in the future.
About you The Centre Operations Manager (Testbed and Events) plays a key role in ensuring the smooth, safe and effective day-to-day running of the National Centre for Child Health Technology (NCCHT) and its Testbed facilities.
This role combines technical and operational management of the NCCHT Testbed with the day to day running of the centre, including events and stakeholder management responsibilities.
Main duties of the job
Job overview
In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the NCCHT building and its specialist Testbed Centre. You will ensure that the building operates smoothly, overseeing access, safety, maintenance coordination and the overall experience of colleagues, tenants and visitors. You will maintain a well-managed, safe and welcoming environment, identifying issues early and ensuring they are addressed promptly and effectively.
An aspect of your role will involve technical leadership of our Testbed Centre. This is a unique facility designed to replicate real-life environments, enabling NHS teams, researchers and industry partners to safely test new technologies, equipment and ways of working. You will ensure the Testbed is fully prepared for use, that audio-visual systems function reliably, and that users feel supported and confident when engaging with the space. You will also play a key role in safeguarding the data generated within the Testbed, ensuring that recordings, consent processes and data handling meet the highest standards of safety, privacy and Information Governance.
