Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust is pleased to invite applications for Paediatric Orthopaedic Fellowship positions within our highly respected and expanding Paediatric Orthopaedics Department.
These Fellowships offer outstanding clinical exposure and training in a wide range of paediatric orthopaedic subspecialties. Fellows will gain experience in the assessment and management of paediatric orthopaedic conditions, with the exception of malignant bone tumours.
You will work alongside a dynamic and supportive team and receive structured training in all aspects of general paediatric orthopaedics. The department prides itself on its well-developed subspecialty services, providing excellent opportunities for skill development and career progression.
Subspeciality Experience Available
During the Fellowship, experience can be gained across the following areas:
- Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH) including established ultrasound screening programmes
- Ponseti management of clubfoot
- Neuromuscular disorders supported by advanced gait analysis
- Limb reconstruction
- Skeletal dysplasia
- Young adult hip preservation
- Soft-tissue knee reconstructive surgery
Our unit provides a comprehensive service delivered by experienced consultants with dedicated interests in each subspecialty area, ensuring Fellows receive high-quality training and supervision throughout.
Anticipated start date for April 2026.
Main duties of the job
Reporting into the Team Lead for Orthopaedics, some of your responsibilities will include:
- Work a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week (ST6-ST8 salary scale).Participate in a 1 in 11 on-call rota with prospective cover alongside existing Fellows and Yorkshire specialist trainees.
- Contribute to elective clinics, fracture clinics, elective theatre lists, trauma theatre sessions, and ward rounds.
- Attend and actively participate in the weekly Friday morning MDT and regular clinical governance meetings.
- Engage in educational activities as the posts are designed for training and development.
- Take an active role in research, service evaluation, and audit projects (audit participation is mandatory).
