We're looking for an enthusiastic individual with a passion for working with children to join our friendly and forward-thinking team at Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust.

This exciting opportunity is based in the plaster room within the Outpatients Department, supporting a wide range of paediatric specialties for children aged 0-16 years. Our team is committed to delivering family-centred care, working in close partnership with parents, carers, and the wider multidisciplinary team.

As part of this role, you'll:

  • Work hands-on in the plaster room, gaining valuable experience

  • Prepare to enrol in and successfully complete the Casting Technician course

  • Commit to all required written and practical coursework, including full attendance

About You

  • NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care
  • Previous experience in a paediatric environment is desirable.

Main duties of the job

Reporting into theDepartment Manager, some of your responsibilities will include

  • There will be an opportunity to develop practical casting skills under the supervision of the highly qualified orthopaedic casting team to assist in the delivery of care to children.
  • To always maintain confidentiality of information regarding children/young people/families and carers.
  • Accurately record personally generated clinical observations on the patient record, usingboth paper and computerised systems
  • To effectively manage telephone and other enquiries.
