We are delighted to offer the opportunity to become a transport practitioner in the field of paediatric and neonatal intensive care. Over the course of a three-year training programme, you will gain the clinical knowledge and practical experience necessary to assess and manage critically ill infants and children requiring transfer to regional intensive care facilities.

About us: We provide a comprehensive, highly skilled transport service, managing over 2200 patient transfers annually by road and air. We are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS) and are committed to maintaining the highest standards of patient care, safety, and governance.

About you:

  • Post registration experience in paediatric or neonatal intensive care, and be working in a relevant clinical area with access to a suitable supervisor.

  • A first degree (2:1 or equivalent level study) and commitment to advancing your clinical practice through the completion of a Master's-level qualification.

  • A commitment to attend University 1-2 days per week during term time

Main duties of the job

Reporting to the Lead Nurse, you will be part of a structured three-year programme that combines academic study and clinical practice, leading to the completion of a Master's degree in Advanced Clinical Practice.

  • Year 1 (B6): Focus on developing clinical skills/experience, with non-rostered supernumerary status. You will attend University of Sheffield for one day a week, alongside one day of supporting clinical development.

  • Year 2 (B7): You will work towards a Postgraduate Diploma and continue to develop clinical competence under supervision, attending modules and gaining hands-on experience.

  • Year 3 (B7): You will work towards achieving your MSc in Advanced Practice (dissertation module), with 3 hours minimum per week protected study time.
