Permanent | 35 hrs per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our dedicated team of secretaries at Sheffield Children's as a Secretarial Assistant within the Surgery & Critical Care Group.

You will provide vital support to a variety of departments, including ENT/Plastics, Neurosurgery, Ophthalmology, Trauma and Orthopaedics, and the Paediatric Surgical Unit.

This is a great role for someone who is conscientious, enjoys working as part of a team and can manage a busy workload while maintaining standards of accuracy and attention to detail.

Main duties of the job

Reporting into the Secretarial Team Leader, your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide high quality clinical typing and administrative services to clinical teams and their secretaries.

  • Produce dictated correspondence using audio and digital transcribers.

  • Support the smooth running of the office, ensuring tasks are completed promptly.

  • Manage a busy workload, adapting and responding to changing priorities

  • Educated to GSCE standard including C grade in English or equivalent
  • RSA 11 typing or equivalent qualification or equivalent experience

Desirable

  • NVQ 2 in Business administration or equivalent
  • RSA III or equivalent qualification or equivalent experience

  • Experience of audio-typing in a secretarial role
  • Experience of working with different computer software e.g. email, internet etc.
  • Experience of working in a customer-focused environment

  • Previous medical secretarial experience
