Job summary

Substantive position: 10 PAs

We are looking for a Consultant in Paediatric Anaesthesia to join our dedicated team of 27 anaesthetists at Sheffield Children's.

Facilities:

  • 9 dedicated theatres, a procedure room, and two MRI scanners.

  • Regional and supra-regional surgical services - general, urology, neonatal, orthopaedic (including spinal and limb reconstruction), plastic, burns, ENT, max-fax, dental, neurosurgery with intraoperative MRI, and ophthalmology.

  • Independently staffed Intensive Care and High Dependency Units.

  • Well-established multidisciplinary Pain Service.

Main duties of the job

Reporting into the Team Lead, your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide anaesthetic services to accommodate service expansion, consultant cover and flexibility, and to cover consultants who have been on call or are on leave.

  • On-call responsibilities include providing consultant support for the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit for difficult airway issues, and cover for the consultant covering intensive care when they are busy.

  • There may be opportunity for those with appropriate qualifications to take on additional PICU responsibilities.

  • Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent or within 6 months of gaining CCT

Knowledge/Previous Experience
