Job summary

Specialty Doctor in Paediatric Emergency Medicine

Join our dynamic and supportive team at Sheffield Children's Hospital as a Specialty Doctor in Paediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM). This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills in managing a wide range of emergency presentations, including major trauma.

We encourage you to pursue non-clinical interests such as education, research, and management, both within our department and across the hospital community. This role is ideal for those looking to build a career in PEM, whether in Specialty or Specialist doctor roles.

Be part of a team that values growth, collaboration, and excellence in paediatric care. We look forward to welcoming you!

Main duties of the job

Reporting into the Clinical Director, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assess and manage patients, contributing to daily clinical activities in the Emergency Department.

  • Supervise and help develop junior trainees and medical students.

  • Work as part of a flexible middle-grade/specialty doctor rota with self-rostering.

  • Participate in clinical audits, service improvement, and regular multidisciplinary meetings (e.g., child protection, trauma, radiology, and morbidity).

  • Maintain accurate and detailed clinical records.

  • Attend educational sessions to support continued professional development.
