Job summary

Here at Becton we are a small team of six qualified chefs. We produce freshly prepared food 365 days a year, for patients staying at the Becton site. We provide a four week extensive menu and also provide meals for specific needs and dietary requirements.

The Hotel Services Manager and Catering supervisor work alongside the dietitian and our long stay residents to ensure that all special diets and our menus meet clinical needs

The catering department holds a 5* Environmental Health rating which we have held since opening in 2010.

We also work alongside the education department to ensure that menus meet the needs for Healthy Eating in Children for Education for the Becton Academy based here at Becton

We currently have a 25hrs permanent post available, working afternoons over 7 days on a 6 week rota.

Main duties of the job

  • To carry out tasks assigned to you by the Catering Supervisor
  • To work closely with other team members to ensure high quality food is produced
  • To follow cooking techniques and procedures as specified in departmental procedures
  • To produce food of a high quality and consistent standard
  • To adhere to all hygiene regulations
  • To follow the Trust's guidelines on Health & Safety and to work in a safe manner with regard to codes of practise
  • To carry out cleaning duties to the required standard
  • To ensure food is well presented/garnished for service
  • To monitor and document procedures as identified by the Catering Supervisor/ Team Leader Hotel Services for CAMHS
  • To ensure all paperwork is carried out in conjunction with good management practise
  • To report any faults in machinery to the Catering Supervisor/ Team Leader Hotel Services for CAMHS
  • To contribute to the departments operation and development by following all procedures as laid down by the Associate Director of Hotel Services
  • To undertake all training as required. This is to include all update, refresher and statutory training
