An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Paediatric Critical Care Unit at Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust as a Band 5 Staff Nurse. Applications are welcomed from Adult trained nurses with appropriate experience in Critical Care.
The post involves providing safe quality care to patients requiring High Dependency and Intensive Care to Paediatric patients 0-16 years. This is a very rewarding opportunity to work within an MDT providing excellence and the opportunity to develop specialist knowledge and skills.
The postholder will be a key member of the PCCU Team. PCCU work collaboratively as a multidisciplinary team, internal and external to the organisation, to facilitate holistic seamless care delivery for all Trust patients. Nursing Care of children aged 0-16 (and occasionally young people up to 18 years) requiring general acute/chronic/critical care in an identified clinical ward or department.
As a Band 5 Staff Nurse you will be able to work within a team, have good decision making skills and able to use your own initiative and share the trust values and vision and be committed to equality diversity and inclusion.
Main duties of the job
As a Band 5 Staff Nurse you will be responsible for co-ordinating and providing skills nursing (without direct supervision) to patients, in accordance with responsibilities under the NMC code of conduct.
You will be able to plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for an allocated patient group, in consideration of individual needs, using prioritisation and delegation skills. You will also be an advocate for the patient and contribute to the continuing development of nursing, including the supervision or junior nurses and support staff.

As well as being dedicated to their personal and professional development and the development of the unit.We are proud of our education programme within the Critical Care unit and as a new Band 5 staff nurse to Critical Care you can expect a 6 week supernumerary period of structured orientation and education. You will have a named preceptor/mentor for 6 months to 1 year for support and guidance. The education team within Critical Care offer teaching and support to all levels of staff both on an individual basis and in groups. They are dedicated to the training and development of all members of staff.
