Job summary

Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust CAMHS services are recruiting a Band 6 Community Learning Disability Nurse to join our multi-disciplinary team for Sheffield Children in community settings.

We are looking for a nurse with, or willing to develop, expertise in assessment and interventions for children and young people with learning disability and mental health presentations and/or behaviours that challenge. Interventions are often at multiple levels and include joint working with other agencies.

There will also be opportunities to offer advice, consultation and training within a number of settings. Experience of working with children would be beneficial however not essential as there will be opportunities to learn through joint working as well as peer supervision and training opportunities.

RNLD qualification is preferred but RMN with suitable skills/experience are very welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

Together with other members of the multi-disciplinary CAMHS Learning Disability Mental Health Team, contribute to the ongoing development and delivery of a city-wide service for Children and Young People with moderate to severe learning disability/mental health and/or challenging behaviour problems.

o Work closely with multi-agency partners to deliver care within agreed standards in a variety of community settings.

o As an independent practitioner have accountability and responsibility for a caseload.

o Be a source of specialist clinical advice by having a working knowledge of specific therapeutic interventions, treatments and clinical management strategies in a variety of settings.

o To promote the guiding principles of Clinical Governance, maintain and enhance clinical practice and quality within the CAMHS LDMH Team.

o To promote best practice in clinical risk management, health, safety and security of self, others and the workplace.

  • Registered Learning Disability Nurse and/or Registered Mental Health Nurse/Registered Nurse(LD) or (MH)
  • ENB998 or equivalent qualification in the mentoring and teaching of students

Desirable

  • Experience as registered social worker
  • Qualified as an independent nurse prescriber or willing to train

  • Has gained sufficient post registration experienceworking as a nurse with people with learning disabilities in a CAMHS or other health setting
