Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation TRust is one of only four dedicated Children's Hospital Trust's in the UK providing integrated, highly specialilst healthcare for children and young poeple in Sheffield, South Yorkshire and beyond.
An opportunity has arisen to appoint to the vact post of Senior Estates Manager. For specific scope of this role, please consult the job description and personal specification. The post holder will be responsible for providing effective, operational estates management services across the Sheffield Children's Hospital portfolio, managing the strategic and day to day operational estates building and engineering services for multiple sites, to suppot the needs of patients, visitors and staff and for ensuirng the environment is presentable and capacity for patients is not affected.
Main duties of the job
Ensuring that the Trust operates within all relevant regulatory, advisory, compliance, financial and service delivery frameworks. The post-holder shall co-ordinate the day to day planning and delivery of operational and maintenance functions, primarily but not exclusively for engineering, services and buildings. Act as line manger to Operational Estates Managers / Supervisors and operational staff in Engineering, Building and general operational disciplines.
Provide expert specialist and professional building and engineering expertise to estates staff, capital projects, senior managers, and external companies.
Travel between sites for general work requirements, emergency work responses and meetings. Maintain up-to-date service contracts with specialist contractors or service providers that theYou will be expected to act as line manage to Operational Estates Managers/Supervisors and operational staff in Engineering, Building and General Operational disciplines.

Essential
- Educated to Degree, HND / HNC level with suitable experience.
- Professional engineer with appropriate estate / building services related technical qualification.
- Specialist knowledge acquired through qualifications and supplementary training (e.g. Authorised persons certificate of competency)
Desirable
- Qualified to Degree Level in an Engineering discipline.
- Membership of engineering or building professional institution
- Basic health and safety qualification e.g. NEBOSH certificate.
Experience
Essential
- Experience in a senior position of the operational management of a large Healthcare Estate, to include building fabric, building services and associated engineering systems and equipment.
- Extensive experience in electrical / mechanical or building services engineering.
- Experience of writing and implementing policies and procedures covering engineering maintenance, and estates health and safety
- Making difficult often contentious management decisions.
Desirable
- Experience in Managing Health & Safety in an Organisational setting.
- Project management qualification.
Knowledge
Essential
- In depth knowledge of key areas of regulatory compliance for health and safety including: electricity, asbestos, fire, legionella, falls from height, LOLER, pressure systems and gas safety
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to overcome barriers to engagement by stakeholders using negotiating and influencing skills
- Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to meet challenging and conflicting deadlines for themselves and the team.
