An opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and motivated person, who enjoys working with childrenand their families, to join the Safeguarding Support Unit, which hosts the Child Sexual Assault Assessment Service (CSAAS).
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the Crisis Worker will undertake a range of individualisedclinical duties to support children (and their families), aged 0-16 years.
A primary function of this specialist role is providing support for children requiring acute, forensic, ornon-recent assessment/ examination where there are concerns or allegations of rape and/ or sexualabuse. This includes assisting the paediatric clinician during the assessment and examinationprocess, supporting the collection of forensic evidence, and supporting the child's immediate after-care.
You will also be responsible for the provision of follow up pathways for children and young peoplewho attend the CSAAS for a medical assessment. You will also undertake a range of clerical andadministrative duties.
The Crisis Worker will be part of the rota for the CSAAS which operates 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Experience of safeguarding children is essential.
Main duties of the job
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will undertake a range of individualised clinical duties to support children (and their families), aged 0-15 years (and up to 18 years where there are additional needs/ vulnerabilities) who are considered to have suffered abuse or neglect.
The primary function of this specialist role is supporting the Child Sexual Assault Assessment Service based within the SARC. Alongside Healthcare Support Workers, you will provide support for children requiring acute, forensic, or non-recent assessment/ examination where there are concerns or allegations of rape and/ or sexual abuse.
You will assist the paediatric clinician in undertaking medical examinations by supporting the child, young person and family during the assessment and examination process, ensuring the child and family are kept updated and are able to access information and services as appropriate. You will also assist in the collection of forensic evidence. As well as supporting the child's immediate after-care, you will be responsible for the provision of adequate and pro-active follow up pathways for children and young people who attend the SARC for a medical assessment. You will also undertake a range of clerical and administrative duties, including inputting data.
You will be part of the rota for the SARC service which operates 7 days a week, 365 days a year and you will be required to be flexible with working days, hours, and the on-call rota.
