Job summary

Embrace is a highly specialist, round-the-clock transport service for critically ill infants and children in Yorkshire and the Humber who require care in another hospital in the region or further afield.

Staff in this post may rotate between a lead unit and the Neonatal and Paediatric Transport Service.

Main duties of the job

  • To act as a role model in the delivery of expert clinical care for a given shift
  • To plan, implement and evaluate nursing/ care to maintain the highest standard and quality
  • To assist the team in managing and developing the Neonatal and Paediatric Critical Care Transport Service
  • To ensure that the needs of the neonate, child, parents and significant others are met
  • To co-ordinate the delivery of specialist care within appropriate guidelines, with a member of a senior member of the Embrace team
  • To undertake agreed projects related to research, audit, practice and professional development in specialist areas
  • To provide clinical supervision of others

Job responsibilities

Assess, plan, implement, evaluate and audit the care for neonates/children/young people and their families presenting for care within the framework of the Transport service

To work as a member of the Transport team in the delivery of quality care and support others appropriately

Develop care pathways focused on the individual patient maintaining a dynamic researched based approach and the development of service practice undertaking regular reviews in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team.

To have experience within a neonatal/paediatric critical care area and be in position of a relevant critical care course (Qualified in Speciality)

Contribute to the development of the Transport service in collaboration with the service/directorate management team

  • oOn the relevant part of the NMC register. Part 1,8 or 15 oo OCP registration
  • oRelevant specialist qualification (ENB 100/415/405/160/R23) or equivalent
  • oEvidence of ongoing, dynamic continuing professional development within the specialty, linked to demonstrable clinical competencies
  • oEvidence of undertaking APLS/EPLS /NLS courses

Desirable

  • Possession of a relevant degree or in the process of obtaining

  • oUp to date clinical experience within a neonatal/paediatric critical care area and be in position of a relevant critical care course
