Job summary
A unique opportunity has arisen for an experienced Paediatric Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our well-established Ear, Nose and Throat Department.
It would be preferable if the applicant has ENT experience, including the care of patients who have a tracheostomy, but this is not essential.
The role involves being part of a large multi-disciplinary team across ENT and other specialist teams within the trust, in the provision of specialist care to the children and young people, (and their families) both at SCH and in the community.
You must be motivated, organised, have excellent communications skills, as well as being a team player.
To be responsible for:
- updating ENT policies and procedures.
- Assessing, managing and reporting risk
The role will include specialist education within SCH and to other Health Care Professionals, liaising with Schools, GP's and Community Nursing Teams as needed.
You will also participate in preparing young people for transition when ready from Sheffield Children's NHSF Trust to Adult Services.
Main duties of the job
- To manage a clearly defined case load in a variety of settings, ensuring effective and efficient patient flows, whilst ensuring the quality of care provision to children, using Trust protocols, policies and guidelines.
- To provide leadership to the nursing and support team, setting an example of professional standard
- To lead and be proactive in customer care relations, advocating for families promoting and disseminating good practice
- Support and develop initiatives that are aimed at transforming and improving specialist service
- To consistently show initiative and engage with families to develop new ways of working
- To act as an independent prescriber in areas of competency

- Work closely with consultants and ward areas to ensure smooth pathways of care.
