Job summary

The Patient Safety Manager role is responsible for the provision of a first-class safety investigatory service across the Trust.

Providing expert advice and support to a team of learning response Leads/patient safety investigators and Care Group based managers on a range of issues including, but not limited to, scope of PS investigation, framing terms of reference and engaging with Care Group management teams.

A key function of the role is to develop the Learning Response service in such a way that all Trust PS investigations are completed in a consistent manner using with high quality PSIRF/investigation science methodologies.

Main duties of the job

o Manage the provision of a first-class patient safety/learning focused investigatory service for all PSII's ensuring they are managed in line with good practice and utilising established project management methodologies which align to PSIRF.o Be responsible for the day-to-day management and leadership of the Learning Response Team.o Ensure that day-to-day supervision, allocation and co-ordination of the Governance/Patient Safety team ensuring that all resource and skills are fully mobilised for business continuity.o To support through the Trusts governance structure mobilising all learning from themes and outcomes of PSII's.o Provide expert advice on highly complex, sensitive investigations and on the interpretation and application of Trust policies and procedures, regulation and relevant statutory obligations including PSIRF.
